Blog - We're going to The Baby Show – fancy joining us? For free?

Book The Baby Show dates in your diary - see you there!
There’s a lot of excited hustle and bustle at Puddle Ducks HQ at the moment, because five of our fantastic franchisees are going to be exhibiting at The Baby Show! Taking place at the NEC in Birmingham from 20th-22nd May, The Baby Show is pegged as ‘the perfect day out for you and your bump or baby’ – and this year is set to be its best yet.
You’ll be able to see from previous blog posts, that swimming is a wonderful way to exercise during pregnancy and a great way to bond with your baby after birth while teaching them a life-saving skill in a fun and safe environment, so we’re welcoming mums (and dads!) of bumps, babies and toddlers to our stand at the show, L40. As well as being able to sign up for baby and toddler swimming classes all over the country, you’ll have access to our baby swimming experts who run franchisees throughout the midlands, and who will be happy to talk to you about baby swimming until the cows come home:
Cate Woodrow-Smith: Derby
Kate Atwood: Worcestershire
Donna Taylor: Leicestershire
Beccy Stenson: Oxfordshire
Sarah Peacock: Bristol and Bath
We’re so excited to be making our Baby Show debut that we’re running some exclusive show offers. One lucky parent will win an entire term of free lessons at their local Puddle Ducks franchise, and we’re also giving you the chance to win £50 off the cost of the first term of lessons. Pop along to our stand, L40, for more details on this, and on how you can take advantage of our special Baby Show discount, of 20% off Puddle Ducks classes.
Competition time!
Because baby swimming is even more fun when you come to classes with friends, we’re giving you the chance to win one of two sets of four free tickets to The Baby Show. To enter, simply leave a comment telling us your favourite way to stay in shape both during and after pregnancy. The competition closes at 10pm on Sunday 8th May, and we’ll announce the winner here on Monday 9th May. Don’t forget to leave us your email address and/or phone number so we can contact you if you win!

I would love to have joined a gym to get back into shape but they are far too expensive and time consuming when you have a 6 month old baby to look after! I'm lucky enough that my LO has just got into the routine of napping from 9am until 11am so i've just started doing 'home exercise' DVDs when he's sleeping... it just means I have to get up earlier to do the cleaning! They're great because if he wakes up sooner than expected he will watch me make a fool of myself jumping up and down in front of the TV and will sometimes look as though he's joining in! Or it's easy enough to cut your workout short and finish it later.
I have also bought some 'magic cream' called Tummy fix for a little helping hand ;-).
Saying this I have lost a stone and a half since having Mason just by walking everywhere. My closest town is about a mile and a half away on foot so i've been walking there twice a week with the push chair. It's great, easy exercise and it's good for the LO to get fresh air...plus now the sunshine is making itself known it's a great excuse to get a tan whilst on the go!
Now Mason is eating solids it has been alot easier for me and my partner to eat more healthily as we're buying lots of fruit and veg for the baby's food which is a big push in the right direction of fitness... finally everything is starting to come together!
My motivation is I want to look good for our holiday in September... I wouldn't want to look big and frumpy on Masons 1st Holiday pictures! =D

Staying in shape during pregnancy is easier if you have babies born close together as you do a lot more running around! My little ones are 3 weeks old and 15 months old and they certainly keep me busy, no time for the gym! :)

My favourite way to stay in shape whilst pregnant with my daughter and after she was born was to walk briskly - in late pregnancy I went for a walk daily and I'm sure it helped prepare me for labour. After my daughter was born taking her out for a walk in the pram everyday helped me get my shape back :)

I don't have the inclination for the gym (nor the funds), so do try and walk places if I can. I also enjoy swimming and go to yoga once a week

During pregnancy i like to make sure that i eat more healthy with extra fruit then i did before and with exercise i walk round the fields with my family in the evenings (jog a little) to get myself ready for labour. I will probably carry on this way after birth to help loose the weight as well as breastfeeding. I do find though that swimming helps because i dont have to carry my weight in the water.
