We're getting soooo excited about the Olympics!

We're getting into the spirit of the Olympics at Duck HQ!

Ooh – we’re so, so excited about the Olympics here at Puddle Ducks.  Can you tell?!! We are REALLY getting into the spirit of it!

There is a small book being sold for the 2012 Olympics called “The Little Book of Olympic Spirit” with quotes from great Olympians.  In this book, Michael Phelps (who we rather admire of course!) said “It seems as if every day I’m in a sort of dream world.  Sometimes you have to sort of pinch yourself to see if it’s really real. I’m just happy I’m in the real world”.  Perhaps not quite as poetic or inspirational as Martin Luther King when he began "I have a dream...", but yes Michael – we get you – because hosting the Olympics in the UK still feels rather unreal, doesn’t it?  But we pinch ourselves, and yes – it is still raining, but, yes – we are still hosting the Olympics VERY SOON!!

And it isn’t just the grown-ups who are getting into the Spirit of the Olympics here at Puddle Ducks.  All our little Puddle Ducks have been going to their very own Puddle Ducks Olympic Games this week – and wow! They have been amazing!  We’ve seen some truly great competitor costumes full of Team GB and Union Jacks, we’ve sung our very own Olympic version of our welcome song and enjoyed some truly competitive activities.  Who would have thought babies and small children could do rowing, shot-put, synchronised swimming, long jump and swimming through Olympic Rings – all in a swimming pool?  And the squeals of laughter and delight from parents, children and teachers alike speak for themselves – we LOVE the Olympics!  And we’ve proved they can be just as successful when all the competitors are soaking wet, so let’s hope the rain doesn’t dampen spirits in London either!

Tell us what your favourite activity was in your Olympic lesson this week, for a chance to win a gorgeous Team GB Olympic Duck AND a Puddle Ducks swim nappy.  Competition closes at 5pm on Monday 23rd July.  Good luck and enjoy!

Violet loved her underwater swim through the Olympic hoop. It was even more special as her nanny (all dressed in her red, white and blue) came to watch her for the first time!

Lily loved her Olympic lesson with her team GB costume. She loved the archery throwing the duck through the hoop but best of all was the show jumping. Think the parents loved the horse racing nothing wrong with a little competition. I think it should be a regular event Lily has not stopped talking about it xXx

Sebastian loved the races and I have never seen him swim so fast until the boat race when he and another dipper clearly thought they were sightseeing at the olympics and went the opposite way to everyone else, giggling all the way! More end of term lessons like this please, it was fab.

Mummy liked the horse riding except she was absolutely rubbish at it. Max loved the diving and couldn't wait to get in the water. Such a great idea and a memorable last day of the swimming term.

My little splasher loved swimming through the Olympic hoop and riding her Olympic gold medal winning horse. My favourite bit was watching her smiling face and getting to dress her in her team gb costume.

My Little Dipper, Erin, loved the synchronised swimming. She giggled throughout, with a gurning smile. Although it is apparently sometimes easy to confuse a "pencil" with a "starfish"?
