Find out about baby swimming, toddler swimming and child swimming classes in and around Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham and surrounding areas in the North East.

Hello and a very warm welcome to Puddle Ducks in Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham and the North East!

Swimming has always been a big part of my life and even more so when I started taking my son, William, to baby swimming classes at just seven weeks old. Since then, I have watched in wonder as my precious little boy has become so confident in the water. I almost burst with pride when he held onto the poolside unaided and pulled himself out of the pool for the first time in his Puddle Ducks class at just seven months old.

Having been a competitive swimmer and lifeguard myself, I cannot stress enough the importance of water safety and confidence from an early age. I am absolutely delighted to be be a part of the AMAZING and nationally recognised Puddle Ducks programme and to be bringing it to babies and pre-school children in the North East

With classes perfectly tailored to suit your child's age and confidence, our classes are full of songs, rhymes, games and activities working towards your little one swimming independently, safely and happily, both above and under the water.

Please get in touch if you would like to find out more - I would love to welcome you and your little one to our classes soon.

Testimonials

Puddle Ducks has helped our little girl walk and she has grown so much in confidence!

Our daughter Ena was born with a problem with her heart and has already undergone 3 open-heart operations all before her 2nd birthday. Weeks at a time in hospital meant Ena lost a lot of weight and her muscle tone deteriorated a lot; she was so poorly on her first birthday that she couldn’t even sit up. Once recovered she became a bum-shuffler but then a year later aged 2 she had her 3rd operation; after the operation Ena’s physiotherapist recommended swimming lessons to help strengthen her muscles.

We had only taken Ena swimming 3 times before but were eager for her to love the water and be safe in it! Plus we really wanted her to walk like her little friends. Ena loved ‘Kickers’ from the start- the warm pool meant that she didn’t get cold after 10 minutes like she did in public pools and the friendly staff and children her age really helped her settle in. I wanted her to walk but didn’t actually realise how swimming would help her- after just 6 weeks she took her first steps! She broke up before Christmas a bum-shuffler and returned to Puddle Ducks in the New Year as a walker-much to everyone’s amazement (including my own)!

Now I find her singing the theme tunes to her teddies and teaching them the swimming signals. I can’t believe that she can already hold onto the side, hold her breath underwater and jump in- last week she even held onto woggles by herself. Thank you Carolyn and the team for helping Ena settle into swimming which in turn has helped her gain confidence and strength! She loves being a Puddle Duck!

My Proudest Moment Yet!

I started bringing William to Puddle Ducks when he was 11 weeks old. He loved the water straight away and not only do we go to Puddle Ducks every week we also go swimming to practice what we have learned. When it was time for us to go underwater we were both unsure but the more we practised the easier it became and William started to enjoy going under. From the very first lesson before we went underwater Carolyn taught us to give a signal so the babies could learn when it was time to go under. William is now six months old and at five months I gave him the signal before we went underwater and I could not believe what he did he took a gasp held his breath and closed his eyes! Wow my five month old baby communicated with me in such an amazing way.

Every time we go underwater and William hears his signal he holds his breath and closes his eyes. We love going swimming together and I feel we have a special bond in the water. We are now on our second term at Puddle Ducks and moved to the next class.

The best feeling as a parent is waiting for your child to give their first smile, sit up alone etc I never thought I'd cry over my child holding his breath and going underwater. It truly was my proudest moment yet and I'm sure me and William will be at Puddle Ducks for a very long time.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to you and your team for the welcome you have given to Dillon and Daisy.  After over a year swimming with another swim school, Dillon's class was cancelled and we had to move to another class which both Dillon and i never quite took to.  Dillon started to lose both interest and confidence in the water but we were unable to change classes.   I then received a letter from yourselves after giving birth to Daisy in November.  My husband contacted you and we were very happy with the quick and friendly response.  We came along and Dillon absolutely loved the lesson so we have now joined the kickers classes with him and Daisy, at 12 weeks old, is enjoying the Floaties class.
