Swim Academy by the experts at Puddle Ducks

Swim Academy classes are for children aged 4-10 years old and run over 6 levels.

We’ve done lots and lots of research to ensure that we are building a nurturing and challenging environment for your child and we’ve created these programmes so your child can achieve.

Swim Academy classes are from children aged 4-10 years old and run over 6 levels.

The classes are fun lively exciting, and varied to make sure that the children feel engaged and motivated in the water. Our classes are built so that the children get the right level of support to suit their age. We want your children to be fearless, we want to give them courage, we want them to make friends, we want to provide a nurturing environment but a challenging environment as well. We want to give them all those skills and we want to see where their skills are going to take them in life.

Find out more about our Swim Academy classes by visiting our 'Pools and Classes' page. We currently run classes at Heston Hyde Hotel and Aspire Centre

Ali Beckman is Puddle Ducks' Technical Director and Head Teacher, and she is one of the country’s leading experts in swimming teaching.

Ali (who was a competitive swimmer in her youth, and has always loved being in the water) was the company’s very first employee, joining as a swimming teacher in March 2005. By December of that year she was writing her first set of lesson plans for the newly launched Dabblers class and then started writing the first teaching manual and lesson plans for other programmes shortly after.

"Strength development is really important. There’s no point in children continually swimming length after length with poor technique. So what we do with the poor technique is we take that stroke and we deconstruct it and build it back up again. Were small enough to nurture them but big enough to let go.

We train, we teach and we continue to learn at the highest level, so your children are being taught by the best. They’re passionate, they have an eye for detail, and they are going to help your children learn with the right technique, in the right environment, with the right people."

"As a teacher, what I love is that we keep it small, our classes are small, so we are able to give more individual feedback and more attention to each particular child where we can really break down and feedback the necessary technical development for them.

The children get lots and lots of attention and lots and lots of feedback and its fun for them to be that way. I think as a parent and as a teacher that’s what you want out of swimming lessons."

"Romilly loves Swim Academy. She is thriving with them, she’s developed in confidence and developed in ability and its more of a can do attitude with Swim Academy.

It’s one of those places that is fun, each child develops at the own pace and the teachers are fabulous when they encourage the children to swim."
