Meet the Teachers at Ashdown Primary School

  • Clive

Sundays (From Jan 2017 in conjunction with Karen)

PADI Qualified Scuba Diver, STA Qualified Pool Responder and STA Level 2 Baby & Pre School teacher (and best cub scout at Faversham swimming Gala 1981!). I gained my passion for swimming at a very young age having nearly drowned as a younger child. It was my lovely daugher Gracie May who introduced me to the delights of baby swimming and I haven't looked back since.

My classes are fun and lively but always with the focus on progressing your child to be happy, safe and loving the freedom that confidence in the water brings

Out of the water I run all operational aspects of the business; teacher recruitment, training and competency, marketing, pool relationships and pool acquisition. I also love a good spreadsheet!

This session is primarily Karen's but I will be filling in on a pre-arranged basis when Karen is unable to teach due to her other role as an Airline Stewardess for BA.

    Tuesdays and Thursdays

I have always loved to swim, I just love the feeling of being in the water. I started both my boys swimming when they were 12 weeks old and found it to be a beautiful experience (they are 2 and 4 now and both adore the water too). I started with Puddle Ducks as a Poolside Assistant and then went on to do my teacher training the first chance I could. It’s an amazing job on so many levels; seeing the babies relaxing in the water for the first time with their carers, to seeing Dippers achieve fully independent swims is just so fulfilling. I also love the fact that we not only teach children swimming techniques but also how to keep themselves safe in the water – I am so lucky to be able to do a job I love that also allows me so much time with my family.

  • Karen

    Sundays (From Jan 2017)

Karen has already been a part of our Puddle Ducks team for almost two years working as an Emergency Cover Poolside Assistant.

Karen has visited most pools in our Region at one time or another so you may well have seen her out and about already! She balances her work with us with her other job as a BA Airline Stewardess and has two lovely children of her own.

Karen has been qualified in Baby & Preschool swimming teaching for some time but has only recently trained and qualified as a Puddle Ducks teacher which was the natural progression for her from her Poolside Assistant role.

    Sundays (Until 18th December 2016)

My first experience of baby swimming was taking my daughter to her weekly Puddle Ducks classes. She absolutely adored our time in the pool, and I felt I was helping her gain a vital life skill whilst having so much fun. I started working for Puddle Ducks as a Poolside Assistant and just loved seeing all the children progressing and gaining water confidence each week - it was so inspiring. It was then I knew I had to become a swimming teacher!

I really love being a Puddle Ducks teacher, not only because I believe learning to swim is a hugely important skill but because the Puddle Ducks classes do this in a fun and exciting way where every child is treated as an individual.

I hope to see you in the water soon!
