All you need to know – Columbus Lower School, Chelmsford

We can’t wait to welcome you to Puddle Ducks at Columbus School.

Here is some information about the venue that we hope you find useful.

Location: Oliver Way, Chelmsford, Essex CM1 4ZB

Essential Information:

  • There is parking available on site at the front of the school. Please note that traffic is one-way and the car-park should be accessed via the entrance gate in Partridge Way and exited via the exit gate on Oliver Way. Cars should be parked in the direction facing the exit and main school entrance on both sides, leaving a clear path for vehicles to be able to drive through.
  • There is a covered walkway to the main school entrance.
  • Buggies can be left in the foyer through the main entrance door before going through to the main school.  To maintain cleanliness and hygiene, and to avoid overcrowding and hazards, buggies must not be taken through to the changing rooms.

  • Once through the doors, please follow the Puddle Ducks arrows along the corridor to the pool hall.
  • Upon entering the changing rooms, and also onto the poolside, please ensure the snap locks at the top of each door are in place.
  • There are two separate changing areas

  • There are benches and tables available to use (which must be wiped down with the disinfectant provided after use). For younger babies and children, we also suggest bringing a small changing mat that can be rolled up and placed in your bag so that you always have a dry place to change your baby.

  • There are warm showers and toilets in the changing areas, for use before and after lessons. Please be aware that these showers are sensor operated.
  • There is also a warm shower on the poolside.

  • A well-fitting neoprene swim nappymust be worn with a disposable swim nappy or one of our environmentally friendly NappyWraps & Liners underneath if your child is in Floaties, Splashers or Kickers and in other programmes if they are not yet fully potty/toilet trained. Why not buy one of our great value Starter Packs which contain everything you need for your swim lesson?
  • All nappies should be taken home with you or placed in the yellow waste bin in the changing room – we can provide nappy sacks.
  • You can find lots more useful information about attending our swim classes on our FAQs page.
  • Shoes and socks must be removed upon entering the changing rooms. These can be left on the ledge looking out to the playground, opposite the entrance to the changing room.
  • To reduce the amount of time spent in the changing room, where possible, we recommend that you and your child arrive swim-ready at the venue, i.e. with your swimming costume/trunks/swim nappy on underneath easy-to-remove clothes.
  • We ask all customers to vacate the changing areas and pool building within 10 minutes of your lesson finishing. Your assistance with this is very much appreciated.
