Charity Pyjama Week 2018!

Personal survival and water safety are at the very heart of our swimming lessons, especially during our Pyjama Weeks!

Charity Pyjama Week returns this Autumn with a splash (15th -21st October). We can’t wait to welcome all our swimmers to participate in the PJs for one week only! But why are we getting ready for bed, rather than getting ready to swim?

Why wear Pyjamas?

Every year, we hope that by incorporating vital water safety and personal survival skills into our lesson plans in the form of Pyjama Week, our swimmers will understand what it might feel like to be in the water with clothes on.

If an accident happens – such as falling into water – often it is when a person’s clothes are on. Here at Puddle Ducks, we strongly believe that it is our responsibility to help our swimmers realise that even though they feel heavier with the weight of their PJs, they can still do those all-important reactions that might just save a life one day.

Who are we supporting?

This year we are delighted to be raising money and awareness for Sands, Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity, a charity close to many of our customer’s hearts. Sands provide invaluable free support to anyone affected by the death of a baby through their national helpline, forum and network of support groups.

At Puddle Ducks East Kent, we are honoured to be supporting a charity that is focused on helping anyone affected by the death of a baby, improving the bereavement care received by parents and families, and influencing policy makers and promoting research to reduce the number of babies dying. This year is extra special, this year marks 40 years of Sands.

Where do I come in?

Pop on your PJs, spread the word and donate any money that you can spare!

It’s up to you how you would like to contribute; from sparing any loose change on the day, donating on our Just Giving page, or sponsoring your little-one to wear their Pyjamas (by downloading your Sponsorship Form here). For the first time, you can text to donate too! Simply text PDEK48 followed by the amount that you'd like to donate, to: 70070 (for example, PDEK48 £2).
