Essential Pool Information
What to wear
All Swim Academy children must be wearing appropriate swimwear – Boys should wear trunks or jammers. Girls should wear a well-fitting one-piece swimming costume. Baggy ‘Bermuda style’ shorts or baggy swimming costumes are not allowed as these can cause drag in the water and could delay your child achieving a distance swim. No wetsuits are permitted – if your child is cold we recommend a thermal base layer, not a neoprene wet suit.
Children and adults must remove loose fitting or sharp jewellery before swimming. Hoop earrings are not permitted.
All Swim Academy children must wear a swim hat – you will be given one at your first class or feel free to bring your own.
Goggles are optional but will be encouraged during class for Swim Academy children.
Baby & Pre-school: A well-fitting neoprene swim nappy must be worn with a disposable swim nappy or one of our environmentally friendly NappyWraps & Liners underneath if your child is in Floaties, Splashers or Kickers and in other programmes if they are not yet fully potty/toilet trained.

Changing Rooms
Changing rooms can be found towards the end of the lobby area and to the left. Please arrive as
‘swim ready’ as possible i.e. with your swimming costume/trunks on underneath your clothes to
speed up changing time and time spent in the changing room to free up space and consider bringing
a roll up changing mat if you are swimming with a baby as there are no baby change facilities here.
There are separate male/female changing rooms available.
Swim Academy children are to change with their parent in the parents gender appropriate changing room, until age 8 when they should change in their own gender appropriate changing room
Additional Pool Information
Spectators are allowed here; please note seating is limited and it can get very hot poolside so dress
accordingly!
ALL PARENTS (for preschool classes) MUST BE 5FT 5 OR OVER TO SWIM HERE. AT 5FT5 THE WATER WILL BE TO YOUR SHOULDERS,THEREFORE IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU ARE CONFIDENT IN THE WATER YOURSELF.
Entering the building:
The conservatory pool building can be seen from the car park. Upon entering the building, turn right
into the lobby area. All shoes to be removed here, and you can leave pushchairs tidily here if needed
too if needed.
Before the Lesson:
Please make sure your child has been to the toilet before their class begins to minimise disruption.
Arriving at the Pool:
When you are changed, please head to the pool and wait to be called over by the teacher. All
children and adults are required to enter and exit the water as a group. You are not allowed in the
pool before or after the class time
Leaving the building:
Please collect all your belongings, exit the lobby, and then follow the path back round to the car
park, closing the doors behind you.
Outside Pay Area:
The venue boasts a lovely children’s play area however this is to be used at your own risk and is not
managed or maintained by Puddle Ducks
Photography is allowed in 'splash time' only for baby & pre-school sessions, at the end of the lesson and at teachers discretion. No videos allowed. No photos or videos allowed in Swim Academy classes
No food or drink to be consumed on the premises.
