Top Tips for your Swim Academy Taster Session
A huge well done on your swimmer's progress so far! We're thrilled to invite you to a Swim Academy Taster Session.
We understand that moving up can feel like a big step for both children and parents. These taster sessions are designed as a gentle introduction for our current pre-school swimmers, giving them the chance to meet our experienced Swim Academy teachers, get a feel for the lessons and of course, give you plenty of time to ask any questions.
Here are our top tips to help you and your little one make the most of your taster session:
💦 Check your pool information. Take a few minutes to look at the details on our pool pages for your chosen location. You'll find information on parking, changing areas and any pool specific guidance, such as how to access the building.
💦 Finding The Priory Witham Academy pool. The pool building is located around the back of the school building. Take the path to the left of the main school reception and look out for our signs and friendly staff who'll be there to guide you.
💦 Arrive in good time. Aim to arrive about 15 minutes before your lessons so you can drop your little one changed and settled without feeling rushed.
💦 What to bring. Your swimmer will need a towel, goggles (optional) an a plastic bag for wet swimwear. They'll also receive their very own Swim Academy cap from our team if you decide you would like them to join the programme. Onesies can be great in the winter for warmth and an easy exit!
💦 Go at their pace. If your child feels nervous, that's completely normal. Let them watch others and build confidence gradually, we're always happy to arrange another trial if they're not quite ready this time.
💦 Ask questions. Our team will be available at the pool to welcome you and to answer any queries you may have. The office team will then check in with you afterwards to see how your little one got on and to find out if you would like a place reserving.
💦 Finally, encourage them to have fun!!
Celebrate this exciting step and enjoy watching your little swimmer take on the next challenge.
