New Practitioners
PANDAS We are very pleased to support this wonderful charity which offers a fantastic resource for anyone suffering from antenatal or postnatal anxiety or depression (and that includes partners). The support group runs from Broadacre house on the last Saturday of each month and Angela who runs the group is extremely lovely. The support group is open to anyone affected by ante or postnatal depression, and families and children are welcome too. The next support group is 26th March 2.00-4.00pm. World Doula Week
This week is World Doula Week so what better time than to announce that our massage therapist Jude Soames has completed training and is now a mentored Postnatal Doula with Doula UK. Postnatal Doulas hope to help mothers and their families in those very early hours, days, weeks of a new baby arriving by offering support at a practical and emotional level. The Postnatal Doula can provide space and time for the mother to adjust to the new needs of the family, and bring encouragement and reassurance at those tricky moments.
Congratulations
To our very wonderful TinyTalk baby and toddler signing practitioners who won “The Best Class for Babies” and “The Best Class for Toddlers and Pre-Schoolers” in the Gentler Parenting Awards 2016. TinyTalk are also nominated in the national What's On For Little Ones Awards 2016 so if you would like to vote for them and show them your support please visit www.whatsonforlittleones.co.uk/award-voting.asp
Postnatal Classes
We have some super postnatal classes for you to join which offer exercise for you, a social support network, information and occasionally cake! Plus you don't have to find childcare as your baby is welcome:
Postnatal Yoga
Our wonderful Pregnancy Yoga teacher Caireen is now offering a Postnatal Yoga class for mums and babies at The Nest in Low Fell. Yoga can help stretch, strengthen and tone the body and offers simple breathing and relaxation techniques which can help cope with everyday motherhood.
Pilates Babies and Pilates at Play
These two Pilates classes were devised by Josie Lucas who has been working with pregnant and postnatal women using Pilates for over 10 years. The classes are fun (how can they be otherwise when babies are involved?!) and the focus is on helping women to be able to progress and learn more about their bodies and how Pilates can benefit them in the future.
Buggyfit
These classes are run by Debbie Donaldson who is very experienced in fitness for pregnant and postnatal women. The Buggyfit classes take place in parks around the region and combine a workout with fresh air and socialising. And as Debbie says “there is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing...” so you have no excuse not to enjoy yourself!
HulaHoops
Would you like to go back to your childhood when challenges were simpler, you were allowed to like inane pop songs, and you laughed and laughed? Well you can revisit that time at the Hula Hoops class run by Debbie Donaldson. This class is designed to improve tone and strengthen posture and has expert postnatal fitness knowledge behind it, but it is also just brilliant fun! (Unfortunately babies and children can't join in on this one – they would steal all the fun for themselves!)
