Raquel is our Star Teacher for Autumn 2025

A huge congratulations to Raquel, who is our Star Teacher for Autumn 2025.

We had the most nominations we have ever received for this award, so firstly we would like to say a huge thanks for every single customer who took the time to nominate their teacher. It was a joy to read every nomination as they were coming in.

Lizzie, our Franchisee, asked Amandine Painton, who is a Life Coach for professional mums, to be our judge. She had almost 100 entries to read through and select a winner. Amandine said there were several nominations that stood out to her, Amandine said "It was lovely to read through all the nominations, with a high emphasis on creating a fun and safe environment for babies and toddlers to gain confidence in the water." However it was this one that was her winner - it came from Julia, who swims with Raquel on Sunday mornings at Highdown School with both of her children:

Raquel is our Star Teacher"Raquel is a wonderful swim instructor — calm, encouraging, and perfectly in tune with each child. She creates a warm, easy-going atmosphere that helps even cautious little swimmers feel confident in the water. My son, who’s naturally more careful, responds so well to her patient, upbeat manner and gentle reassurance, while my daughter lights right up at Raquel’s positive attitude and cheerful praise. Her lessons balance fun and focus beautifully, so progress feels effortless. Raquel connects with every child — she remembers their quirks, celebrates their milestones, and gives thoughtful feedback throughout each session. It’s clear she truly loves what she does, and her warmth and consistency make swimming one of the highlights of the week."

Amandine had this to say about why she chose this nomination:

"I think that it’s so important that a teacher is calm, gentle, encouraging, warm and reassuring, especially working with such young children. Kindness is so underrated in the world, when it is actually the basis of creating safety which allows kids (and adults) to thrive.  Raquel is recognised for having a positive attitude, being consistent, balancing fun and focus, celebrating milestones. This means that parents feel that progress feels effortless. What I really liked is they are seen by parents as truly loving what they do, which is beautiful.
This particular nomination seems to encapsulate all the qualities you would want from a swimming teacher for little ones."

Thank you, Amandine, for your time and being our judge.

Congratulations again to Raquel, we are so happy for you!
