The bonding experience of spending time in the water with your baby is magical and hugely beneficial for both parent and baby. Swimming helps babies have strong muscles, heart and lungs, develops their balance and co-ordination, gives them a healthy appetite and may even help them sleep better!!
Do not worry If you are not confident, because you’re not a good swimmer or nervous about taking your baby in the water, our teachers are highly qualified and be there to support you every step of the way.
You may just think that bringing your baby to a swimming lesson is to teach babies the fundamentals of swimming. However, it’s important to build confidence in parents too, so that you can help enhance your baby’s experience. Our Floaties class is perfectly developed for babies under the age of 6 months, and the focus is on simple activities such as floating, basic holds and moves, a gentle introduction to the underwater water environment and building parent’s confidence.
Puddle Ducks is all about nurturing water confidence through listening to the individual needs of each child, ensuring that the experience is positive and fun. Submersions (going underwater) are an important step in learning to swim, but at Puddle Ducks we NEVER force submersions - it is incredibly important to us to build up the Floaties confidence and trust with learning signals and taking small steps first. We never submerge a baby who is unhappy - instead gently offering an alternative until they are relaxed enough to take that next big step. It is also important to note that underwater activities are NOT the main focus of this class. Despite the beguiling images, not all babies enjoy this experience, so do not worry at all if your little one is upset at first.
This 30-minute session in the pool is your time to bond with your baby, without distractions. One of the most surprising benefits is probably that you will enjoy the class just as much as them! Watching your baby develop confidence and skill in the water is an absolute joy – you will be amazed at what they can achieve with the right encouragement.
At Puddle Ducks Wakefield we would like to offer new parents the chance to try a class for FREE before commiting to a block.
