Yipppeeeee its that time of year again for our Fundraising Pyjama week!!!
About our Pyjama Week:
- If accidents happen, often it's when fully clothed. We strongly believe it's our duty to ensure that our swimmers know what it feels like to be in water while wearing clothes
- Even just this short experience will help them to realise that even though they feel heavier, they can still do those all-important reactions of kicking to the surface, turning and reaching for the side
- We do all of this while making sure your child has lots of fun!
PJ week teaches our little ones (and their parents) the dangers of water and what to do if they get into trouble in water. Most accidents will happen while a child is fully clothed, so Pyjama Week will give a great indication of what this will feel like.
For a whole week our little Puddle Ducks (and parents if you get in the pool) wear their PJs to their swimming lesson which is lots of fun for everybody too, but wearing pyjamas during swimming lessons is about more than just having fun. It will help them realise that they will feel heavier but they will still be able to do the important life-saving manoeuvres like kicking to the surface and reaching for the side.
I am delighted that this year the local charity that we will be supporting is the Tiny Hearts Campaign During. The Tiny Hearts appeal is a very special campaign launched by Barnsley Hospital Charity in September 2014 and aims to raise £1 million to help support the relocation and development of a brand new Neonatal Unit. So far they have raised an amazing £674,988.22 and building work has now started. The unit is due to complete and be opened in November, and they will be continuing to fundraise for new equipment for the unit.
We ask our customers for a £2 voluntary donation at the pool, but even better is when parents get involved by getting their little ones sponsored. There will be an amazing prize bundle up for grabs for the swimmer that raises the most sponsorship money, which will include 10 FREE Puddle Ducks classes to use with us, and some vouchers for days out, and Puddle Ducks gifts etc.
For every swimmer that raises over £25 in sponsorship, they will be entered into a prize draw to win 10 FREE Puddle Ducks Classes too!!! You can download your sponsorship form by clicking on the links below ...
Since 2013 we have raised a massive total of £9,676.10 for local charities, and I really hope we can raise a substantial amount this year through the sheer generosity of our customers.
