Suzanne and Gary Horton enjoyed their careers as legal professionals until following the birth of their second child, they discovered that their traditional roles didn’t leave enough time for family life. So, in 2011, they bought the Greater Manchester franchise before later adding the Worcestershire and Derbyshire franchsise to there business family.
Jane teaches our Baby and Pre-school, Swim Academy and Elite Swim academy classes. As Head of Teaching, Jane oversees the teaching team, ensuring standards are maintained at the highest level. Jane loves sharing her knowledge not just with the children and parents but with all of our new Puddle Ducks teachers. Jane trains, develops and assesses our new and existing teachers to make sure all our Puddle Ducks teachers deliver first class lessons week in, week out.
When shes not teaching, Jane enjoys spending time with her daughter and their horse Kit.
Kayleigh joined us a customer with her eldest daugher back in 2014, and was on maternity leave with her second child when she had a change of career to join our teaching team in 2018. Teaching all our levels but specialising in Swim Academy.
Kayleigh comes from a sporting background and her daughters have followed in her footsteps leading Kayleigh to finish her teaching to spend her weekends driving them to matches. She then joined our office team and was promoted to Customer Care Manager back in 2024.
When Kayleigh is not helping our customers, she can be found playing netball, or cheering for her daughters at their numerous sports clubs.
Lou has been a member of our teaching team for 11 years this autumn. Starting as a poolside assistant before undertaking our Teacher training and then later becoming a Senior Teacher for our Baby & Preschool programme.
Lou is incredibly knowledgable and along with Jane helps develop and mentor our new teachers.
Lou is also an avid swimmer as well, and can often be found on a marathon outdoor swim. She has not only swam the channel with her amazing team Zebra, but also complete a huge end to end Lake Windermere swim.
Lisa is not only a Baby & Pre-school teacher but is also qualified to teach our Swim Academy classes as well. She has been part of our team since 2019.
Lisa teaches at our Leonardo Hotel EMA pool alongside studying for her Degree in Social Work. She also has two daughters and a very cute dog.
Cathy is a experienced swim Teacher, having taught in other venues before joining Puddle Ducks Derbyshire in 2021. Cathy teaches at Everlast Fitness Derby and Choices Health Club Spondon.
She has just won our Autumn Star Teacher 2025 competition and has been entered into the national competiton.
Beckie is our Baby & Preschool Teacher for our classes in Hinckley and Burbage. She joined the Puddle Ducks team in 2023 and is also qualified to teach our Swim Academy classes.
She is currently off on maternity leave, awaiting the birth of her second child.
Cate is super experienced in all things Puddle Ducks, as she started Puddle Ducks Derbyshire back in 2009 and building our lovely business before stepping back and handing the reins over to Suzanne and Gary.
She is now not only a teacher at our Adelaide Grange pool, she is also a big part of our office team.
Nicola joined our Puddle Ducks team in 2024 and in quick sucession trained in both our Swim Academy and BPS programmes.
Nicola teaches alongside her job in a school and has two sons.
Liv has been part of our team since 2020 and teaches both our Swim Academy and Elite Swim Academy classes.
Liv is also at university, studying to become a Primary School teacher.
Aoife has been part of our Puddle Ducks team since 2023 and teaches our Swim Academy programme in Derby, as well as providing cover to other pools.
Aoife is also studying a degree in Microbiology alongside teaching.
Bex joined Puddle Ducks Derbyshire in 2023 having been a teacher in a different Puddle Ducks area previously. She teaches at our Radisson Blu pool, and is also qualified to teach our Elite Swim Academy programme.
Bex is super sporty and loves football, rugby, skiing and sailing.
Rosie is an experienced teacher, and STA Tutor, and she joined us here at Puddle Ducks Derbyshire in 2024. Rosie teaches our Swim Academy classes in Derbyshire and is currently covering Beckies maternity leave classes in Hinckley.
Rosie is also a part of our office team.
Emily joined our team as a Poolside Assistant back in 2021 before undertaking her training to become a Swim Academy Assistant Teacher. Emily helps teach our classes at our Choices Health Club pool in Spondon
