At Puddle Ducks East Surrey, we are passionate about helping babies, toddlers and children become confident swimmers through fun, supportive and high-quality swimming lessons. That’s why we are so excited to announce that our Spring 2026 Star Teacher Award has been awarded to the wonderful Suzie!
Suzie is an exceptional children’s swimming teacher who has made a huge difference to so many families through her patience, encouragement and tailored approach to teaching swimming. From nervous beginners to confident swimmers, Suzie works hard to ensure every child feels safe, supported and celebrated in the pool.
Here is the nomination which won Suzie the award this term:
“Teacher Suzie is the best! She has two of my boys in the same session and they both have very different needs. One is neurodiverse with ADHD, dyspraxia and has a hip disorder. While he's very water confident, he can struggle with concentration, coordination and stamina.
My other son has no physical challenges to overcome, but when he started swimming with Suzie he really wasn't water confident and was quite anxious. I love watching how Suzie seamlessly tailors her lessons to their individual needs, giving bespoke feedback to stretch and challenge the boys while always praising them on their own journeys for their own successes.
The lessons are well paced, so they don't get bored, and she explains with patience and kindness. Watching their progression over the years has been so rewarding and I'm looking forward to our 3rd son returning to puddle ducks next week after a few years away. You really can't beat the quality of the teaching!”

Suzie’s teaching perfectly reflects our commitment to inclusive and child-centred swimming lessons for babies and children across Surrey.

“It took me a few reads to be able to narrow it down but I think I have picked a winner. Even though I don’t know these ladies, I feel guilty not being able to pick them all as they all have made a big difference to the families they have worked with.”
