Aquanatal Classes for Mums-to-be

  • Puddleducks Aquanatal 7

Did you know that you can start your Puddle Ducks journey before your baby even arrives!  Swimming is one of the safest ways to exercise during your pregnancy as the water supports your joints whilst also providing resistance work for all the muscles, strengthening your back and abdominal muscles ready for carrying your baby around!

Our Aquanatal classes are a fabulous activity for mummies-to-be. They are expertly designed Aquanatal programmes that take a holistic approach to an expectant mums’ physical and mental well-being, combining relaxation with cardiovascular exercises to help prepare the body for birth.

Attending our Aquanatal classes means that once your baby arrives, they’ll find the sounds of the pool familiar and will be relaxed when you take them swimming, even before you move onto Baby & Pre-school and then Swim Academy lessons as a family.

"My Puddle Ducks journey began when I was 14 weeks pregnant and has continued every since. I was apprehensive but also hopeful that it would be a positive experience.  I had read great things about Aquanatal classes and heard from friends how great Puddle Ducks was and how much they benefited - how the classes helped to relieve pregnancy discomfort and created a supportive environment.  What I didn't expect was just how much of an impact Puddle Ducks would have on me.

From the very first session, I was hooked.  The weightlessness in the water gave my body a welcome break (even more so as I got bigger!), and moving through gentle exercises helped ease the tension, aches and strains of pregnancy.  Beyond the physical benefits, the atmosphere truly stood out.  There wassomething calming and empowering about the class - being surrounded by other mums-to-be, all sharing the experience, alongside our worries, and our thoughts.  The classes quickly became the highlight of my week: a little pocket of calm, connection and care just for me and bump.

I did have worries before joining.

Would the exercise be safe?  Would I feel too self-conscious in my swimsuit - especially as I got bigger?

In the end, I had nothing to worry about.  The teachers who led my Aquanatal class were incredible.  They created a nurturing, judgment-free sace.  They explained every move, offered constant reassurance, and always checked in on how everyone was doing.  Their knowledge and warmth made me feel completely at ease, and I soon found myself genuinely looking forward to each class.

Once my little girl arrived, there was no doubt that we would continue our water journey.  The positive experiences from Puddle Ducks Aquanatl classes had laid such a strong foundation that moving on to Baby & Pre-School classes felt like a natural step.  From our very first Floaties class, at just 9 weeks old, I felt the same sense of trust, warmth and enthusiasm I had experienced during Aquanatal.  Watching my little girl grow in confidence in the water - learning through play and connection, from Floatie to Splasher and now as a Kicker - has been incredibly special, and a reminder of just how powerful and supportive early water experiences can be.

As the months went by and we attended our Floaties lessons, I realised I wasn't just enjoying being part of the sessions - this was something I wanted to be more involved in.  I decided to train as a Puddle Ducks Baby & Pre-school swimming teacher, and I can honestly say, it has been one of the most rewarding decisions I have ever made.  Now, as I embark on my Puddle Ducks Aquanatal training, I am looking forward to guiding new mums through their own journeys"
