About the pool
Location: The Grand Thistle Hotel,
Otium Leisure Club, Broad Street in central
Bristol.
Exclusivity: Puddle Ducks have exclusive use
during hire times.
Changing rooms: There are two large changing rooms
with showers (one male, one female) plus a large disabled changing
room. Please collect a locker key on arrival from the Leisure Club
reception desk.
Poolside Assistant: There is a Puddle Ducks
poolside assistant.
Pool Temp: 30-31oC
Pool Dimensions: 12.5m x 4m
Depth: 1.35m
Max Preschool Class Ratios: 8 children/adult

Parking: As you are travelling down Broad Street,
you will see the hotel on your right. Take the first immediate
right after the hotel to access the car park. Take a ticket from
the ticket machine and wait for the automatic door to open before
entering the car park. Puddle Ducks customers receive a 50% parking
discount.
Other: Once you have parked your car, either take
the lift down to the basement level which leads to the Otium
Leisure Club, or alternatively take the stairs. Please note that
the swimming pool cannot be reached via the main hotel reception.
Prams and car seats can be stored at the pool. The hotel has a
large dining area and Puddle Ducks customers are very welcome to
stop for coffee, refreshments or lunch.
About the teachers
Charlie Goodenough
Charlie initially joined us as a Poolside Assistant and although she was already teaching older children how to swim was reluctant to train to be a Puddle Ducks teacher. It didn’t take many weeks of watching from the poolside to make her change her mind – lucky for us! Charlie’s son Robbie loves his Puddle Ducks classes and can now have extra tuition from his mummy!
