Across recent years, child drowning deaths in England have doubled, rising from around 20 in 2019-20 to over 40 in 2022-23, with an estimated 125 children drowning in the last four years - many of whom were under five. Two out of three of these tragic incidents occurred at home, often in the bath. Source: RLSS
These stark figures come from the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) and the National Child Mortality Database (NCMD), demonstrating that drowning remains a very real risk for children even in familiar environments.

That’s where Puddle Ducks come in, offering a progressive swimming programme from newborn to 10 years. The structured lessons at Puddle Ducks help children become familiar with water early on, so they’re more confident, capable and safer around water as they grow. Three times a year Puddle Ducks holds Pyjama Week, inviting children to swim in their PJs and with class focus on water safety and survival techniques.

In a community that cares about children’s safety and wellbeing, giving youngsters the opportunity to learn to swim early is one of the most important investments a parent can make. After all, developing skills and water competence, complemented with active supervision, can help protect a child for life.
