Swimming Teachers - Lancashire

We are a close-knit team at Puddle Ducks Lancashire. We love to give our customers great memories and a fantastic time at their swimming lessons every week.

To become a teacher, no previous experience is necessary as you will go through all relevant training before you start your new role. 

We are always interested in hearing from people who live in Lancashire and share our passion. You must have a bubbly personality and a passion for teaching children to swim. No previous qualifications are necessary.

Key Skills/Attributes:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• A passion for children and for teaching.
• No previous Swimming Teaching experience is necessary as full training will be given.
• Clean Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check (paid for and conducted by Puddle Ducks)
• Computer literate
• You need to be a reasonably competent swimmer (able to swim 25m and surface dive to the bottom of a 1.8m pool).
• Valid Driving Licence and use of own car is essential.

• 6 hours on Sundays at Springwood Primary School in Swinton

• Teaching Baby & Pre-school swimming classes across the Worcestershire franchise area (travel across the county may be required depending upon home location)
• Must be able to commit to at least one weekend day
• Due to the nature of the role there are several training courses that need to be undertaken to qualify as a Puddle Ducks Teacher as well as co-teaching with our existing teachers.

No previous swimming teaching experience is necessary as full training will need to be undertaken, but basic qualifications will need to be achieved first, as detailed below. We would of course expect interested applicants to share our passion for baby and child swimming!

What is on offer

• Flexible/increasing hours
• Adaptable role – on-going training for BPS (Baby & Pre-School) and then SA (Swim Academy), potentially to become Senior Teacher, assessing new recruits

Required

• STA Level 2 Safety Award for Teachers or equivalent life saving qualification*
• STA membership and online safeguarding training completed*

• Computer literacy
• Competency in swimming (able to swim 25m and dive to the bottom of the pool)
• Valid Driving License and use of own car
• Availability to work weekends

* These can be obtained easily prior to commencement

Desirable

• STA BPS swimming teaching qualification or equivalent
• STA Level 2 Award in swimming teaching qualification or equivalent

For the right candidate, full training to reach these qualifications will be given.

Once all qualifications required have been achieved, the post will involve further training and co-teaching to become a qualified Puddle Ducks Teacher. This training and co-teaching period will be fully remunerated. Our rate card for pay details is available upon request. The successful candidate will be earning £25 per hour within 12 months of starting teaching with us!

Part Time Swim Academy Teacher – Cardiff and Newport

• Can swim 25m and is confident diving to a depth of 2m
• Ideally has STA SAT and STA Level 2 Award qualifications or equivalent
• Is confident, friendly, flexible and reliable

Hours and location

• Saturday morning in Newport
• Thursday after school in Cardiff
• Additional hours to be arranged once we find the right teacher!

We offer comprehensive ongoing training and support, excellent rates of pay and an extremely rewarding career.  Teachers are paid via PAYE and receive holiday pay, pension (if applicable), profit share and other benefits, as well as a discount off your child(ren)’s swimming lessons.  Pay is £16/hour once qualified, rising to £18/£20 after a year and £28 for Senior Teacher hours.

• STA SAT lifesaving training / RLSS NRASTC (pre-requisite)
• STA Award / ASA Level 2 (pre-requisite)
