Getting Ready For Summer

If you have not already started lessons, now is the perfect time to start teaching your little one how to swim ready for the summer holidays. If starting now, your child will have just enough time to learn the basics. Then, when the summer holidays are here, they will be ready to use the techniques and skills they have learnt to help make them safer in the water. This, in turn, will lead to lots of enjoyment in the pool, sea, lake or even the paddling pool this summer.

Learning to swim for each child is different. How long it takes them to master a skill can vary and it can take each child a different amount of time to learn to swim independently and confidently. However, it is very important to gain basic water confidence and safety skills to have fun, enjoy and be safe around water.

At Puddle Ducks, we teach important skills in all of our lessons such as little one getting in and out of the pool safely and correctly, this is taught from the very first lesson.

We also teach “crab walking” which enables your little ones to move along the side of a pool to get to the steps or another point of safety to get out safely and without having to have to swim.

Other lifesaving skills we teach include floating and treading water, along with swimming skills, such as kicking legs and reaching arms.

All of our classes are child-led, and our teachers are experts in their field at knowing exactly what each child needs when in their lesson.

We want all of our swimmers to love and respect the water, teaching babies from birth up to school age children of 10 years old to swim independently, beautifully and confidently.
